New Year Book List
I am always resolving to read more! Some years I do well and some years I do not. With the kiddos it has become a little more difficult so I am planning and starting now. My nightstand stacked with books and I have a full Amazon cart. I'm working to fine tune my list and am going with a book a month plan. I want titles that will expand my knowledge on issues, people, and history, with a little fun thrown in.
Here's what I have on my list as of now.

Friday 5
I've finally started to crawl out from the depression, so here are 5 things to give you a little kick after the election.
1 - I love this Secret commercial. Check it out here.
2 - I have a feeling that the girls might be getting some of these Wonder Woman pieces from The Gap.
3 - I can't wait for the new season of Vice's States of Undress. It's a smart show about fashion but it's not really about fashion. I really enjoy it!
4 - As a young girl I listened to this song by Ry Cooder all the time. It's called Women Will Rule the World. I love this more recent song about girls ruling the world but Ry's song will always make me smile.
5 - As I collect myself and my thoughts and plan my forward motion I am reminded of a new site I joined called Skillshare. You can learn all kinds of different skills on the site. I also really like Coursera which is free. Coursera connects you to courses from universities all over the country.
Still taking deep breaths and working to keep an open heart. How is everyone else doing?

BAPS Houston |
Hey Everyone! Here are 5 things I found this week and wanted to share.
1 - With so much conversation concerning race and police use of force I wanted to share this 1968 speech from Robert Kennedy. I feel that it's still as relevant today as it was almost 50 years ago.
2 - This video, How Wolves Change Rivers isn't new as I saw it online a few years ago but have just recently come across it again. It's a short video about the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone National Park.I love it.
3 - One of my favorite songs, Hallelujah! covered by Rufus Wainwright and Choir! Choir! Choir!. So beautiful. The song was originally written by Leonard Cohen and his version is beautiful as is Jeff Buckley's haunting cover which was my introduction to the song.
4 - I think this might be in my future.
5 -Along with finding the Skyfit app this week, I also found Countable. It's an app that keeps you informed of upcoming bills/votes in Congress and how your representatives voted for the bill.

Get it Together: Diet and Exercise
Frankie today on her half birthday. She's big, beautiful, and 6 months old! |
Today is sweet baby Frankie's half birthday. I figured that since it's been 6 months since I've been pregnant it was a good day to get into an exercise routine. I have been putting off getting my diet and exercise routine together for way too long. My weight is an issue. I'm sluggish, uncomfortable, my clothes don't fit, and I don't feel my best in any shape or form. I wish I could blame it on having two kids but my weight has been an issue way before the two kiddos. That's not to say that having two c sections didn't hurt the urge to get back on the exercise bandwagon because it did. It's hard to lose that much core strength. You don't realize how important your core is until you have your muscles bisected. That said, it's no excuse for not getting to work and gaining back some strength and losing some weight.

Friday 5
Here are some fun things from this week.
1 - Is anyone not watching Unreal on Lifetime (yes Lifetime)? If you aren't watching you are missing some trash-tastic awesome TV! I have never been one to watch any of the Bachelor or Bachelor-like shows but this scripted show about the behind the scenes drama for an unscripted show is great! It's in it's second season and it's some good binge watching.
2 -LOVE this recap of The Karate Kid! I will never see this movie in the same way ever again! Check it out here. Its a fun reminder of how easily perceptions can change. Go Cobra Kai!
3 - One of my favorite sporting events is currently happening. The Tour de France! I love coming home from work and turning on the DVR and watching the day's ride unfold along the beautiful French countryside and wind through the picturesque small towns.
4 - It might be ok to be moody and a worrier sometimes! Good news for me.
5 - The Juno space probe reached Jupiter this week. Here is a link to some other cool things to check out in the night sky this year.

Sadie last summer |
Here are 5 fun things I've found this week!
1 - S'mores! These Tie Dye S'mores from Studio DIY look awesome. I think we might have to try these out for the holiday weekend.
2 - Need a new song for the playlist? This is my new jam! This song is my life. I love Paul Simon. So happy for new music and this song has me grooving all day. Here is another Paul Simon song, a fun throwback tune. Evan wanted to name Frankie, Ally for awhile, and I was down with it only because I could sing her this song ALL THE TIME!
3 - If you need to cool off, here is another thing I want to try soon. These Popsicles, or these, or these, or these would be perfect for the holiday weekend.
4 - I might jump on the off the shoulder bandwagon with this blouse.
5 - It's been a while since I've been out to the theaters but I can't wait to see the new Jason Bourne movie. The trailer looks like it's going to be fun! Any suggestions for summer movies?
Happy 4th!
