Road Trip: Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park entrance

I've always thought of myself as a lover of National Parks. The thing is, I could have counted the number of National Parks that I've visited on one finger before last week. I do love them, I just haven't made it out to visit many (almost any) of them.

The one park that I've been to is Denali National Park and I've been twice so that's something right? I was really close to Kenai Fjords National Park but I don't think I was ever officially in it. Anyway I have always wanted and planned to visit more of our National Parks but up until last week I hadn't made it to anymore. Evan and Frankie's birthdays are a day apart so to celebrate Evan's 40th and sweet baby Frankie's 1st we decided to take a trip out west and visit Big Bend National Park!

Road Trip: Gulf Shores, Alabama

The Beach Club at Gulf Shores
The summer heat has permanently set in down in Texas for the next few months. Instead of fighting summer I decided to try my best to embrace it. We piled up our family of four (still so weird to say), and made the 9 hour drive to Alabama.

Road Trip: Dinosaur Valley State Park

Mural in Downtown Glen Rose, TX
On our weekend road trip to the Dallas area we stayed overnight in Glen Rose, Texas to visit Dinosaur Valley State Park. Glen Rose is about a hour southwest of Dallas. It's a really beautiful area of Texas. It reminded me a lot of the Austin area.

Road Trip: State Fair of Texas!

Big Tex

With the cooler air and the slower work schedule we decided to take a road trip up to Dallas to visit the State Fair. I had never been to the State Fair of Texas but had been trying to convince Evan to make the trip for the last few years. Evan had an itch for a road trip and since it was fall I talked him into the fair. As it turns out this was the first trip for all of us.
